SND's steering committee has a new chair: Hans Karlsson, professor in theoretical chemistry at Uppsala University. Hans Karlsson succeeds Björn Halleröd, professor in sociology at the University of Gothenburg.
Hans Karlsson is appointed in part due to his extensive experience and knowledge of national research infrastructures/e-infrastructures. He has a strong national and international commitment to open science and open data, which is highly valuable for SND’s activities.
“I’m excited to be part of the journey forward within the SND collaboration. It is through national collaboration and the exchange of competence and experience between universities that Swedish research can receive the support it needs in managing research data. SND plays an important role in this through its established national network with both broad and specialized competence, and through its long experience in research data management,” says Hans Karlsson.
Hans Karlsson’s predecessor as chair, Björn Halleröd, has taken on a role within the management of the University of Gothenburg, and can no longer be part of the steering committee for a national research infrastructure like SND.
In autumn, there will be a longer interview with Hans Karlsson about the SND assignment and his work with research infrastructures and open science.
