Introduction to DORIS

This section provides information about SND’s tool DORIS for staff in research data support. Much of the functionality is the same as for researchers, but reviewers will see certain differences in the interface and additional uses.

DORIS offers two different modes: the Researcher mode (for researchers) and the Reviewer mode (for research data support staff and SND). Researchers using DORIS can only access the Researcher mode, where they can see their own data descriptions and data requests. Users registered with reviewer permissions in DORIS can access the Researcher mode but can also switch to the Reviewer mode. You find this function is in the top right corner of the header.

DORIS consists of three parts: Data descriptions, Requests, and Administration. When you, as part of a DAU, are in the Reviewer mode, you can see all data descriptions available for your organization. If your organization handles data requests, you can also view all requests for your organization. Additionally, you can access administrative information for your organization. To gain access to the Reviewer mode, someone within your organization with administrative rights must add you as a reviewer. Instructions on how to do this can be found on the Access administration in DORIS page. You can also contact the DAU support team at the SND office on dau_stod@snd.se.

Detailed information on role descriptions in DORIS is available in the document Manual för databeskrivningar i DORIS: Beskrivning av roller, statusar och funktioner (Manual for data descriptions in DORIS: Description of roles, statuses and features).

SND’s review policy clarifies the fundamental principles for reviewing data published via DORIS. The policy refers to the document Krav och rekommendationer för data och metadata (Requirements and recommendations for data and metadata), which provides more detailed information about the review process before publication.

Storage solutions for data

Higher education institutions and organizations use different ways to integrate their data storage with SND’s data organization and information system, DORIS.

The goal is for organizations within the SND Network to have their own storage solutions for research data shared via DORIS. A suggested workflow for such cases is available in the document Integration mellan lärosätets egen lagring och SND (DORIS)(Integration Between the Institution's Own Storage and SND (DORIS).

Members of the SND Network that have not yet integrated with SND’s services can use the Interimslösning för egen lagring utan integration med DORIS (Interim solution for local storage without integration with DORIS). In short, this means that data are stored locally at the research principal’s site and handled as if there is a storage integration in place, but with manual handling until technical integration is established.

Another alternative is SND's repository service, SND CARE. To use SND CARE, a service agreement must be signed between the research principal and SND. For storing research data that contain personal information, a data processing agreement is also required.

Contact SND at snd@snd.se if you have any questions regarding storage and storage integrations.
