Follow a request for data in DORIS

Data made accessible through DORIS can be found in the research data catalogue on Researchdata.se. Openly accessible data can be downloaded directly from the catalogue. If data are available with restricted access, you must submit a request to access them.

How to submit a data request on Researchdata.se

Create your request in the catalogue entry on Researchdata.se by clicking Add request for data. Proceed by clicking Submit request on snd.se in the shopping cart.

Click "Add request for data" in a catalogue entry at Researchdata.se to request access to the dataset.
Click "Add request for data" and then "Submit request on snd.se."

You will receive a confirmation e-mail when your request has been received and a case has been created in DORIS. Requests are processed either by SND or by the dataset’s research principal institution.

Tracking your data requests

If you are logged into DORIS, you can view data requests that you have submitted on the Requested data tab. Here, you can monitor the progress of your requests and view completed requests.

Each request is one case. Requests are displayed with different statuses: Received, In progress, or Completed

Click the Request ID number to open a request and view more details. If you have requested access to multiple datasets, each dataset is assessed individually and marked with a status Received, In progress, Approved, Delivered, Denied, or Cancelled. Each status change generates a new entry in the status log, recording who made the change, when it occurred, and any messages from the administrator.

You will automatically receive e-mail notifications (in Swedish and English) when:

  • Your request for data has been received,
  • When data are ready for delivery,
  • If a request, or part of a request, has been denied, or
  • If a request has been cancelled.

Note: The Requested data function is a tool for managing requests and tracking the review process. The actual decision-making process regarding data release (e.g., confidentiality reviews and other assessments) takes place outside of DORIS.

Cancelling a request for data

You can cancel an entire request by clicking Cancel request in the Actions column in your list of requests. If you want to cancel only part of a request (specific datasets), please contact the e-mail address provided in your notification e-mails.

Once a request is cancelled, you will receive a confirmation e-mail, and the case will be updated for SND or the relevant research principal institution.

Completed requests

When all datasets in a request have the status Denied, Delivered, or Cancelled, the case is automatically closed. If an assessment of a previously denied dataset is reconsidered, the case status will revert to In progress.

Approved: The request for the dataset has been approved and the data will soon be delivered.

Delivered: The dataset has been delivered. You will receive an e-mail with instructions for how to access the files.

Denied: The request has been denied. You will receive an e-mail explaining the decision and information about how to appeal or reconsider the review process.

Cancelled: You can cancel a request, or part of it. To cancel a part of a request (individual datasets), please contact the assigned administrator.
