SND CARE

SND CARE (SND Central Repository) is SND’s repository for long-term availability of research data. The service can be used when research data are made available via Researchdata.se through SND’s documentation tool, DORIS. SND CARE covers the entire process of making research data available, from receipt and review to storage and publication.

SND CARE holds a CoreTrustSeal certification as a Trustworthy Data Repository. This means that its workflows and technical solutions are defined and quality-assured in line with international requirements for trustworthy, reliable, and sustainable data repositories.
Note that datasets published in DORIS through “Simplified registration” are not covered by SND’s certification

SND CARE includes, among other things:

  • receipt and review of dataset descriptions and associated files
  • quality assurance of metadata prior to publication
  • research data availability through Researchdata.se
  • secure long-term storage of data, metadata, and associated documentation
  • management of access conditions and access restrictions
  • support for publishing data containing protected information, in accordance with applicable regulations.

Storage

SND CARE uses servers located in Sweden, with backup. SND follows the University of Gothenburg’s information security guidelines. Data containing sensitive personal information are stored in a dedicated storage environment for data with a higher information classification level.

Language

Swedish and English.

Target group

Swedish researchers and research-performing organizations.

Access to SND CARE

Use of SND CARE requires a service agreement between the responsible organization and SND (the University of Gothenburg). Agreements are usually concluded at organizational level and then cover all datasets from the organization. Agreements can also be concluded for individual datasets, which can be done directly in DORIS by the person submitting the dataset description.

For data containing personal information, a data processing agreement is also required.

Pricing

Storage is free of charge up to 1 TB. For storage beyond this, a charge of SEK 5,500 applies for each additional TB or part thereof (valid for the period 2023–2026). For members of the SND Network, this charge may be waived if the storage is considered temporary.

Other services within SND CARE are free of charge.
