The following documents have been developed by the SND office to support DAU staff in their work. The documents are published in SND’s Zenodo community and tagged with the keyword “Documents for DAU”. Some of these documents are updated regularly with new versions. The list below shows the current collection, with a short description and link to each document. Note that some documents are currently only available in Swedish.

This document describes the policy that SND has established regarding persistent identifiers on research data described in DORIS. The policy has been adopted by SND’s Steering Committee.

Guidelines on DataCite accounts via the Swedish National Data Service (SND)
The aim of this document is to provide guidelines on the use of DOI registration services as part of SND’s membership with DataCite, and in relation to the SND Network. The guidelines are detailed in the agreement between SND and DataCite and apply to all account holders with membership in the SND Network.

Review of data and metadata
SND policy for the review of data and metadata
This document describes SND’s policy on the review of data and metadata that is done on data descriptions before they are made available via DORIS. In the review process, data, metadata and documentation are checked for their usability and accessibility, and for the correct level of documentation, but not in terms of scientific quality. The policy has been adopted by SND’s Steering Committee.

Requirements and recommendations for data and metadata described and shared through DORIS
This document outlines the requirements and recommendations for data and metadata that are described and shared through DORIS, as well as the legal and technical requirements for using DORIS. It is intended both for organizations that use SND CARE and organizations that provide local storage connected to SND’s services.

Working in and with DORIS
Manual for handling data descriptions in DORIS
This document describes the workflow in DORIS, detailing the process from when a researcher initiates a data description to the published dataset in the research data catalogue on Researchdata.se. The workflow encompasses the roles of the researcher, DAU, and SND, and the document outlines the specific steps undertaken by each role corresponding to the different statuses a data description can have in DORIS.

Integration between HEIs’ local storage and SND (DORIS)
This document describes a recommended workflow from the moment a researcher uploads their research material in their institution’s local data storage up until when the material can be retrieved from SND’s research data catalogue at Researchdata.se. The document provides a walkthrough of the workflow, followed by a technical description of the integration between the institution’s local data storage and SND’s system (DORIS).

Supporting legal documents
Vägledning för utlämnande av forskningsdata med personuppgifter (Guidance on the disclosure of research data containing personal information)
This is a supporting document for organizations that make research data available with restricted access. The document provides support on managing and reviewing requests for access to research data, in line with the General Data Protection Regulation and secrecy legislation. It is supplemented by Checklista för utlämnande av forskningsdata med personuppgifter and Bedömningsstöd vid utlämnande av forskningsdata med personuppgifter.

Checklista för utlämnande av forskningsdata med personuppgifter (Checklist for the disclosure of research data containing personal information)
This checklist is a supplement to SND’s Vägledning för forskningsdata med personuppgifter and describes how a disclosure assessment can be done in accordance with the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act (SFS 2009:400). The document is further supplemented by Bedömningsstöd vid utlämnande av forskningsdata med personuppgifter.

Bedömningsstöd vid utlämnande av forskningsdata med personuppgifter (Aid in the assessment of disclosure of research data containing personal information)
This document is a supplement to Vägledning för forskningsdata med personuppgifter and Checklista för utlämnande av forskningsdata med personuppgifter.
The document aims to provide support in the confidentiality review regarding statistical confidentiality and data protection confidentiality before data containing personal information can be disclosed. As an appendix, the document contains a matrix to provide an overview of which recipients an HEI/organization can disclose research data containing personal information to, for which purposes (research and statistical purposes, or other), and in what form (regarding degree of pseudonymization), in terms of statistical confidentiality and data protection confidentiality. The document is primarily intended for legal officers at Swedish higher education institutions but may also be useful for other research data support staff.
