In 2011, the activities of SND developed in a very positive direction, including a number of approved EU projects and an expanded outreach.
The annual report for 2011 also shows that a number of key recruitments led to a strengthening of SND's expertise. SND now have special teams for all three disciplines (humanities, medicine and social sciences), which made it possible to increase the outreach activities during the year.
– We try to get in touch with the scientific community through our road shows in order to gain access to new data sets and also to get knowledge about what services the researchers need. It is very stimulating to meet the researhers and hear their views, says Mattias Persson, research coordinator for the social sciences.
2011 was also a successful year in the international arena. Two projects received grants approved by the EU's Seventh Framework Programme; DASISH and SERSCIDA. In addition, work commenced 2011 within the EU project Data without Boundaries.
A key part of SND's activities is the transfer of data to researchers and thesis students. Also in this area the development was positive. In 2011, the total amount of performed services was 50 percent higher than in 2010.
