Starting 24 February, SND launches a digital Question Time about data management in various research areas, designated for researchers. First up is environment, climate, and earth sciences.
—In these Question Time sessions, we'll gather the competences we have in SND on a number of specific themes. On 24 February, we'll have Domain Specialists and Research Data Advisors present, but also staff from Environmental Monitoring and Assessment (EMA) from SLU, explains Ylva Toljander, one of the SND Domain Specialists in climate and environmental data, and employed by the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU).
SND’s previous open hours for researchers have been more general in scope, but another four Question Time sessions have been planned for spring and early autumn of 2021, based on the topic profiles for research data that you can currenty find in the SND catalogue. On 24 March, the theme is language research, on 28 April medicine and public health, on 26 May social sciences, and on 29 September it’s archaeology and history.
It’s obviously hard to tell in advance which questions will be in focus in the sessions, but Ylva Toljander expects that it will mainly centre around how to describe data so well that they become reusable.
—We hope that this type of initiative makes researchers feel that they're welcome to share their thoughts, and that we get closer to them as a target group for our work, says Ylva Toljander.
