SND has moved into new facilities that we share with the School of Public Health and Community Medicine at the University of Gothenburg and the Region Västra Götaland R&D Centre for Primary Health Care.
“It's fantastic that we're finally here and able to take part in such a grand opening, which our new cohabitants organized so excellently,” says Elisabeth Strandhagen, Deputy Director and SND’s official representative at the inauguration ceremony.
Hälsovetenskapligt centrum (HVC), as the building is called, was inaugurated with great ceremony by, among others, Acko Ankarberg Johansson, Minister for Health Care. The minister congratulated all involved on this joint effort, which intends to promote broad collaborations in research and education and to increase opportunities for knowledge exchange and learning.
Looking forward to collaborating
“We are truly looking forward to collaborating with the other departments in the house. We hope to contribute our expertise in good research data management and FAIR data, and to help our colleagues take new steps in the transition to open science,” says Elisabeth Strandhagen.
SND has previously shared facilities with parts of the School of Public Health and Community Medicine, but the environment is now expanding to include the rest of the school’s staff as well as the Region Västra Götaland Research, Education, Development & Innovation Centre for Primary Health Care. The regional organization includes the Centre for work integrated learning and clinical research in general practice, the Centre for learning and research in social medicine, the R&D Centre Gothenburg and Södra Bohuslän, and the Primary Care Training Unit.
Many specific challenges
During the inauguration, the various organizations in the HVC building presented their work and activities. The day offered an extensive scientific program with a poster session and seminars. SND had the opportunity to share, among other things, information about the national work to make research data accessible and various ways in which we support researchers in describing and sharing research data.
“There were interesting discussions focused on many of the specific challenges concerning legal and ethical aspects of making data with sensitive personal information accessible. This is something we’re actively working on, and we will follow up on these discussions going forward,” says Elisabeth Strandhagen.
