2020 was a very different year. The need for openness and transparency in research became ever more evident with the global outbreak of COVID-19. As the pandemic affected our possibilities to travel and come together, we had to get creative about new ways to work. For SND, this has meant an opportunity to arrange more digital meetings of various kinds. In the past year, we’ve hosted everything from webinars to virtual drop-in sessions for the SND network, as well as for researchers.
It has also been a year of important milestones for SND, with the completion of some major development projects. Some examples are the launch of our system for describing and making research data accessible (DORIS), the development of a new storage solution that makes it possible to share data that contain personal data in the SND catalogue, and the publication of new web pages about data management for researchers.
SND’s international collaborations continue to grow and thrive. In 2020, SND increased its participation in the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) by becoming an official member of the EOSC Association. The international efforts to improve access to research data have also continued in organisations such as CESSDA and Research Data Alliance, as well as in a number of other international projects.
Read about this, and much more, in our annual report for 2020.
