Researchers at KI can present and share metadata via the SND research portal. Raw data is saved locally at KI and can be made available directly via link from the SND catalogue if possible (no personal data or other reasons for not having the data open) or upon request (an access request is submitted to KI if data cannot be openly available).

  1. Data is stored in S3, the new central storage at the IT-department, in “read-only" format.
  2. An archiving list is filled out that e.g. describes type of data, responsible researcher and how long data will be stored (data registered in the SND catalogue will not be sorted out and disposed of).
  3. A permanent identifier, a so called DOI (digital object identifier) with a "KI-prefix" is connected to the catalogue post.
  4. Metadata is added to the SND research portal and the catalogue post is connected to data stored at KI.
  5. Other researchers can search for and access metadata through the SND research portal, and via link either get direct access to data or request access to the underlying data.
  6. Data access request is submitted when needed to, usually directly to the responsible researcher.
  7. If data should be accessed outside KI, controlled access is given through secure file transfer via S3.
