Share Data: Step by Step
Do you want to give research data a longer lifespan and make new research possible? On these pages you will find information about how to share data through SND – from data description to completed catalogue entry.
Click on any of the headlines below or use the menu links to read more about the different stages of the process.
1. Prepare data and documentation filesThink about what data and information other people need to be able to understand and use the research data you want to share.
2. Describe data in DORISCreate a user profile at SND and describe data by entering metadata in our system DORIS. The more metadata you enter, the easier it will be for others to reuse the data.
3. The data description is reviewedMetadata are reviewed by SND or the research data support unit at your university or organisation. You will be contacted if you need to enter additional information to your data description.
4. Share data! When the data description has been reviewed, it will be published as a catalogue entry in the SND research data catalogue. The data will also receive a DOI, which makes them easier to find and cite. Now, the data are accessible to others, and can be reused for new research and other purposes.
