SND recently hosted a DDI workshop for Swedish researchers and PhD students where the basics of metadata standards were mediated. Approximately 20 participants attended the lecture headed by Wendy Thomas, chairwomen for the DDI Alliance Technical Implementation Committee.
The program was divided in two parts. During the introductory first half-day the basics in DDI was presented. For example the DDI structure was discussed as well as the management of questionnaires and how DDI is useful throughout the entire research process. During the final half-day an in-depth discussion was held on different topics. For example the topic of geographical structures was mentioned as well as what changes are entailed in the new version of DDI 3.2 and what tools and resources are available within DDI.
SND hopes that additional workshops will follow in the future, with further focus on the final users.
