The Consortium of European Social Science Data Archives (CESSDA) has announced their new director, Ron Dekker.
Ron has studied econometrics and started his career as a scientist in labour market research at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. From this he moved on to Tilburg University, where he researched data management and got involved in the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research, where he has held leading positions. Since then he has been working as a Seconded National Expert on Open Science at the European Commission.
Ron states that the research landscape is currently entering a time of change: ”we are entering the era of open science, which is about a systemic change in the way science is performed and with more focus on data-driven research. CESSDA needs to be at the forefront of this change. I will ensure that CESSDA is the go-to partner on re-use of data in Europe and beyond.”
Ron Dekker takes up the position as director of CESSDA on 1 March 2017
