The Spring Seminar is a training course for social scientists interested in advanced techniques of data analysis and in the application of these techniques to data. The Seminar comprises lectures, exercises and practical work using personal computers. While in the lectures the logic of models and the corresponding analysis strategies will be explained, during the exercises and in the practical work the participants are given the opportunity to apply these methods to data.
The seminar covers three modules of one week each, to some extent basing on each other. The courses can be booked either separately or as a block.
This years theme is Aspects of Statistical Modeling with Survey Data
The three modules are:
- Two approaches for Causal Inferences in Non-Experimental Research:Structural Equation Modeling and The Potential Outcome Approach (February 25 - March 1)
- My first Bayes: Why and how to run your first Bayesian Model using Mplus (March 4 - March 8)
- Handling Survey Complexities with Latent Class Analysis and Loglinear Modeling (March 11 - March 15)
Application procedure
Application is now possible for the GESIS Spring Seminar 2013. In order to apply, please fill in the online application form. Please make sure to fill in all required fields.
Each Spring Seminar course is limited to 28 participants. Applications will be processed by application date. This also applies to the waiting list in case the course is booked out when you apply.
Fees and payment
The participation fee is 300,00 € for each course week. Full-time students and unemployed participants pay a reduced fee of 200,00 € if they can officially document their status.
Travel costs, accommodation and meals are not included in the fee. Please make your own arrangements. Further information will be provided after your application was accepted.
