Description

At the beginning of 2015, the party secretaries of six of the Swedish parliamentary parties (plus the Feminist Initiative, which is the only party outside the Riksdag represented in the European Parliament) agreed to participate in and conduct an online survey among their party members. The study was administered by the Laboratory of Opinion Research (LORE) at the University of Gothenburg. When the survey closed on July 3, a total of 10,392 party members had responded. The response rate varies between 9.52% (Christian Democrats) and 17.59% (Social Democrats).

In the spring of 2022, the data file for SPMS 2015 was reworked to enable better possibilities of sharing data upon request. This entailed recoding of two variables (year of birth and year of entry into the party), as well as removal of all variables and response alternatives with free text fields. Below is a list of recoded and deleted variables. Further information can be found in the enclosed code books. The complete dataset is available with restricted access.

Recoded variables: Q1 and Q61
Removed variables: Q67_TEXT; Q28_TEXT; Q140

Total universe/Complete enumeration
In May 2015, the party secretaries of each party distributed a personal link to their members. The link went to an otherwise identical survey. All parties except for the Social Democrats sent the survey to all their registered members. The Social Democrats instead sent the survey to a large, random sample of their members.

The gross sample size is 105,632 party members (Fp/L = 11,807; Mp = 18,772; S = 7,500; V =16,009; KD = 9,797; M =20,007; Fi = 22,240)
