During the spring, summer and fall of 2002, the Swedish National Heritage Board's Contract Archeology Service, UV Öst, carried out several desk-based and field assessments within the area of Linköping airport, due to supplementary ground work. Two main research themes were formulated; Burial and tradition during the Iron Age, and Stone Age settlement by the coast. The project also focused on the formation of villages during the Middle Ages, with a starting point in the medieval estate of Bökestad and the lost Bo manor. The overall survey and investigation area covered 174 400 m2. A total of 26 features and four finds were registered. No traces of prehistoric or medieval settlement were found. A burial ground was discovered by RAÄ 267, Bo manor. The burial ground will be excavated.

Purpose:
The information in the purpose is translated from the archaeological report:
The purpose of the field survey was to suggest further archaeological investigations, based on the results of the survey, to the authorities handling the decision of development in the area. The general purpose was to establish whether there were unmarked archaeological remains in the survey area. The purpose of the field evaluation of the ancient monuments RAÄ 95 and 206, was to delimit them, date them and establish their character, extension and level of preservation. The purpose of the field evaluation of ancient monument RAÄ 267 was to establish whether the area contained settlement remains, and, if so, to find out their dating, extension and level of preservation, and present an overview of the settlement's structure and relation to the topography.
