Description
A twin study on health and behavior in young adult twins born between 1985 and 1992 was conducted. The aim of the study was to examine how genetic and environmental factors influences diseases. The study included questions about gastrointestinal disorders, pulmonary disease, asthma/allergy, arthritis, affective disorders and symptoms, eating disorders , fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and women's health. The sample consisted of both identical (monozygotic) and fraternal (dizygotic) twins, including same-sex and opposite-sex pairs. Conducted in 2013, the study had a total of 6,870 participants out of 16,244 invited.
Participants were also asked to provide DNA samples via saliva for zygosity determination and genotyping. A total of 4,000 twins who participated in the YATSS survey were genotyped.
The YATSS study includes the following question areas:
ADHD
Alcohol
Allergy
